The Bright House

Interior design, Private commission, 2026, Milan.

Several references inspired the project: on one hand, the Light and Space movement and the work of artists such as Robert Irwin and James Turrell; on the other, the architectural work of Mario Galvagni. The intervention focuses on subtraction rather than addition. Several internal walls were removed to allow light and air to move freely throughout the apartment, while the original floor plan was adapted to contemporary living.
A curved central wall organises the space, partially separating the living area from the kitchen and corridor, while integrating a shelving system. The kitchen is conceived as a long, low linear element connecting the dining and cooking areas, composed of different materials and colours that evoke an assemblage of found elements.
Bedrooms were reconfigured with walk-in closets, bathrooms were renovated, and the flooring was redesigned by combining concrete, tiles, and the original parquet.
