Une Machine à Jouer

Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Parco d'Arte Guarene, Italy.

After almost fifteen years of experiments with temporary playgrounds and the use of architecture as a pedagogical space, it is with great excitement that we invite you to the opening of Une Machine à Jouer, our first permanent playscape at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’s sculpture park in Guarene, Italy.

Unlike the machine à habiter—the “machine for living” theorized by the famous architect Le Corbusier—this is a machine for playing in complete freedom. Leaning against the side of the hill, it is a walkable structure that creates a “playscape”—a landscape for play. Two undulating grids and three large equipped tubes are the elements composing a space for discovery and adventure. The structure thus offers the opportunity to engage both the body and imagination, individually and in groups.

The project will be part of Guarene’s Parco d’Arte Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, alongside artists such as Carsten Höller, Mark Handforth, and Marinella Senatore, among others.

Special thanks to Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo and Agostino Re Rebaudengo for believing in this ambitious project.
